This informal reading group serves as a space to learn, explore and discuss concepts and questions surrounding a certain theme related to environmental change. This Fall 2022, our reading workshop theme is: Climate and land (in)justice: inequalities, intersections, and opportunities for justice in Southeast Asia.
Climate justice shifts the discussion of climate change from being a purely environmental or physical issue to an urgent social and ethical problem, where ecology and society are inseparable. It begins with the notion that the burdens of climate change are not borne equally, nor fairly. It posits that climate action must recognize the lived experiences and knowledge of those who are most affected in order to determine a just and equitable solution.
